On a wide, sunny plateau high above the Lammertal the Winterstellgut, awarded by Gault&Millau by two toques, is situated at an altitude of 1,000 m above sea level. After a short drive from Annaberg / Astauwinkel over a small serpentine road you will be spoiled with a picturesque view and selected delicacies.

A good tavern can of course be recognized first and foremost by the good food, the friendly service and lovely furnishings. But above all, how it cultivates its roots.
The history of Winterstellgut dates back to the 16th century. During the snow-free period, the Annaberg pre-stressing horses brought the precious salt from the Salzkammergut and hunting-parties to the residence of the arch-bishops in Salzburg. In the former "Winterstöll" (winter stable), the horses spent the winter. Since the revitalization of the house in 2004 as an inn with a first-class restaurant, Haflinger have been bred with an international reputation at Winterstellgut.

A place of love
About a hundred years ago a lovesick farmer climbed up every night to the Winterstellgut to a maid he worshiped. The path he followed over the nights was called the "love path".
The path has given way to a comfortable road, a place for love has remained the Winterstellgut. Nowhere else you get married so beautifully!
